Faith, that is a strong word in my life. We mostly talk of faith in relation to religion and where we stand with God. My spiritual growth is closely tied to my faith, although I cannot say that I am a very religious person, at least in the conventional way we think of it. Faith has everything to do with my success, though. I never felt comfortable with words or words with me (you should see my spelling without a spell checker). Visuals and physical sensations on the other hand are really a part of who I am.  In times of sorrow I would find refuge in friends or in nature hikes – it is always important for me to feel I am part of a greater whole and not just focused on myself. I do not consider myself a photography specialist. The social and physical environment and their impact on my subjects are primordial to my work. What ties it into a powerful image for you is my faith in both you and I. Faith that I can produce an image that is beautiful and inspiring and if not optimistic, humanly positive.  Art, in my opinion, is meant to lessen our suffering, and there is an artist in all of us!

Jerome Scullino was born in sunny St. Raphael, France. His love for photography was ignited at age 11, when he joined the school’s yearbook club. Jerome lives in Ottawa where he runs a successful wedding and portrait studio, photographing babies, children, families, couples, individuals, and occasionally their pets too. In addition, he also displays his fine art photography from around the world at his Montreal Gallery.
